Bali Provincial Government Bans People from Flying Drones During AIS Forum Summit

Badung - The Bali Provincial Government urges its people not to fly drones during the preparation period or during the 2023 Archipelagic and Island States (AIS) Forum Summit which takes place on 10-11 October 2023 in Bali.

This was conveyed by the Regional Secretary of Bali Province Dewa Made Indra, Tuesday (10/10/2023). The appeal and prohibition, he stressed, were important in order to ensure the safety and comfort of holding the international event of the island nation and archipelago.

"Regarding the security of the 2023 AIS Forum Summit, the Indonesian National Police (Polri) has also held Operation Tribrata Agung 2023. Well, the appeal for a ban on flying drones has been regulated in that operation," he said.

He said that the anticipation and mitigation of security in the operation carried out by the National Police will be carried out by the Follow-up Task Force (Satgas) which is tasked with handling various potential disturbances such as social conflict, terrorism, or crimes using firearms, explosives, bombs to drones that are not registered in the agreed antidrone forum.

The appeal for a ban on flying drones, said Dewa Made Indra, is also the same as the prohibition of not flying kites, which has always been a community activity in Bali.

The appeal not to fly kites was even outlined in a circular numbered B.23.338/14322/V/DISNAKER ESDM about Not Playing Kites in the Period of 4 October to 18 October 2023 in Bali Province.

"In line with the Police Operation, for the sake of guaranteeing security, order and smoothness during the AIS Forum Summit, we urge the public not to fly drones or drones in the venue area around Nusa Dua," he said.

The AIS Forum Summit carries the theme "Fostering Collaboration, Advancing Innovation for the Ocean and a Shared Future". In particular, the meeting will discuss global issues related to the ocean.

Indonesia at the Forum of Island and Island Countries Summit encourages and will focus on three aspects, namely blue economy development, climate change challenges, and strengthening solidarity between island and archipelagic countries.

The AIS Forum collaboration is believed to benefit all participating countries, including Indonesia, through, among others, improved communication, experience sharing, and accelerated resolution of development problems through a unified view of marine issues. (US/TR/Elvira Inda Sari)
